Currently, Commissioners each earn a base salary of $95 thousand, and starting next year, their annual pay will increase to $101,527. The board also approved raises for the county register of deeds, clerk and treasurer, so next year they’ll have the same base salary as commissioners— a 3% increase from $98,570.

Commissioners Pete Meitzner and Lacey Cruse voted no on the measure.

A second option would have increased all elected officials pay to $100 thousand.

The Sheriff and the DA are not affected by this decision. State law says the county is responsible for establishing compensation levels for its employees.

The pay increase is effective January 1.
