Police arrest suspect in fatal Wichita night club shooting

Wichita Police announced the arrest of the suspected Onyx nightclub shooter.

The fatal shooting took place around 12:30 a.m.  Sunday morning in the 10,000 block of E Kellogg Drive.


Jaylon Pete, 23, of Wichita was found in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at an area hospital.

A man, 26. and another man, 24, both from Wichita, were also shot. They were taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries,

Terrence Johnson, 33, was identified as a possible suspect, after he had been arrested in the 1700 block of north Pinecrest about a half hour after the shooting, for alleged misdemeanor criminal damage to property.

He was booked and released before officers connected him to the alleged shooting.

Following an extensive search, Police located Johnson, and he was taken into custody without incident early Tuesday.

Formal charges are pending.
