Reading much? Study ranks KS among the least well-read states

Physical book sales rose nearly 9% from 2020 to 2021. And despite the convenience and technological advancements, ebooks still only represent 21% of all books sold.

Using data provided by Google Trends, a new study compares how much each state reads and ranks them from most to least well-read.

The Face Dragons study uses Google search terms indicating reading intent to assess each state's reading habits. A recent study by typing.com relied on public data such as the number of libraries and bookstores.

Terms typed into Google search, like "best books 2022", "Book suggestions," and "Bestsellers," give a better idea of how many people are actually reading.

The Five Least Well-Read States:
Missouri
Kansas
Nevada
Tennessee
South Carolina

The Top Five Well-Read States (Or Districts):
Washington D.C.
Massachusetts
Vermont
Utah
Maine
