At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will look at helping people who live in a polluted area around 29th and Grove in northeast Wichita. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News he expects a "robust discussion." They'll be talking about a local contribution of $125,000-thousand to match funds from the City and State to help with testing those impacted by ground water contamination near 29th and Grove.
The polluted area is near a railroad yard, and wasn't discovered until the 1990s. Baty says local officials had no idea that the area was polluted.
Baty commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
