The Sedgwick County Commission unanimously adopted the food master plan between the county and the city of Wichita.

The 10-year plan spells out how the county and city will potentially develop the local food system. The plan's goals are to foster food system coordination and education, improve access to healthy food, and increase local food production.
The commission also heard a report on the county's financial situation for the fourth quarter of 2021. The county’s finances are sound with a 4.6% tax base growth and a 12% sales and use tax growth. The real estate market remains strong and the county has healthy fund balances.
Meanwhile, several challenges await in 2022. County leaders expect insurance rates to increase this year, workforce challenges to remain, along with inflation as well. Starting as early as March, interest rates could be on the rise.
