Sedgwick County officials provided a final update on their ARPA spending plan.

$16.3 million remains of the original $100.2 million awarded in 2021. ARPA funds can replace revenue lost due to the pandemic, so the county will transfer $10 million into the General Fund. They'll use $5.9 million for a project at the county jail.

The amount of work the county's finance staff did with ARPA was not lost on Chairman Ryan Baty, who thanked them.

The county has until the end of the year to allocate their ARPA funds and must spend it by the end of 2026. Instead, they will finalize both by December 31.
