CNN reports President Donald Trump has staff compiling information on the mysterious death of a Kansas-native, pilot Amelia Earhart.

The world-renowned aviatrix was trying to become the first woman to fly around the world when her plane went missing over the Pacific Ocean in 1937.

According to a law enforcement official, an executive request was sent to the FBI’s Washington field office late Tuesday to search for any records having to do with Earhart.

Despite a federal government shutdown, agents were given a priority deadline of Wednesday to respond to the request.

Last month, Trump announced he's directing his administration to “declassify and release all government records” related to Earhart.

Despite a number of conspiracy theories about her disappearance, the U.S. government has suspected that Earhart and her navigator crashed when their plane ran out of fuel.
