In a recent survey of 2600 Sedgwick County residents, nearly 80 percent say they have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
Sedgwick County Commissioners heard that report by Dr. Elizabeth Ablah, a professor at the KU School of Medicine. The assessment was conducted in May.
The objective of the survey was to identify the characteristics of people who have not received the shot, what might motivate them to get it, and explore where they might consider taking their kids to be vaccinated.
Dr. Ablah said the biggest concerns by unvaccinated residents were questions about the vaccine's long-term side effects, along with its safety and effectiveness.
The Sedgwick County Health Department is already using data from the survey to help with outreach, to inform residents of available clinics and to reduce misinformation.
