A man who abducted a woman and her child from Wichita, taking them to an area near Cheney Lake is in custody.
The Remo County Sheriff's office stays there was a shooting over the noon hour Monday after the woman was attempting to flee with her child in the car. The sheriff says the man fired shots at the vehicle, hitting the toddler, 2, who was taken to an area hospital with potentially serious to critical injuries.
Officials said a number of agencies participated in the search for the suspect, utilizing aircraft and officers on the ground. They were able to locate him in a wooded area, and took him into custody.
Authorities continue to search for the weapon.
