A 23-year-old man has died after a shooting in the southeast part of Wichita, and police have arrested an 18-year-old suspect. The Wichita Police Department says the victim was Manuel Roach of Wichita.
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Bleckley (southeast of Lincoln & Oliver) late Tuesday afternoon after the report of a shooting.
Officers found Roach had been shot; he was hospitalized, but died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation revealed there was a disturbance between Roach and three men dressed all in black; the suspects left in a white SUV before police arrived.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident between individuals who knew each other.
After the shooting, an 18-year-old man who had been shot in a lower extremity showed up at a hospital; detectives determined that person was a suspect in the fatal shooting of Roach. The suspect was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
