At Tuesday's Wichita City Council workshop, we received a progress report on repairs being made at Wichita's new water treatment plant.
Temporary repairs have been made to one of the failed clarifiers and performance testing and some water treatment began last weekend. Cleaning and water-proofing of the other five clarifiers continues.
The city says repair parts for the clarifiers will arrive the week of March 16. Final repairs on two clarifiers will be completed during the month of April and weather permitting, all work is scheduled to be finished by June.
It's still unclear when the city will officially take the keys to the plant. More performance testing and staff training will continue, likely through the end of the year.
The city is still seeking damages from Wichita Water Partners for not having the plant completed on time.
