Drivers who use the Sedgwick County satellite tag office in Derby will need to make other arrangements after the office permanently closes at the end of the month.
County Treasurer Brandi Baily announced the satellite office inside the Kansas Driver Licensing office at 620 N. Rock Road will end tag office operations on July 31. According to the county, the decision was made because of ongoing issues at the location that have affected both employees and customers.
Baily said the county plans to continue serving Derby residents and is actively searching for a larger replacement location that can handle more daily transactions in a better environment.
Anyone with an appointment scheduled at the Derby office before July 31 will still be served. After the closure, residents can visit the Douglas Tag Office or any of the county's seven remaining satellite tag offices, which continue to accept appointments and walk-in customers.
