The Wichita City Council tabled a vote on an agreement to build a new hotel near Eisenhower National Airport.

The proposed site at 1523 S. Ridge Road, just north of the Hampton Inn and Suites, would be home to a $15 million, upscale hotel with no less than 100 rooms.

Several council members voiced concerns about the developers' Hilton Garden Inn hotel in downtown Wichita at 401 east Douglas, where the pool, according to the Hilton website, is still under construction.

The developers Mitesh and Sumit Patel told the council they left the project in November 2019, before its completion.

The agreement will come up before the council again on May 4, after the council has more time to study the project. If it's approved then, construction is expected to start in early 2022 with completion by June 2023.
