A Wichita couple was injured in a traffic accident in Gove County in the northwest part of Kansas.
It happened early Tuesday afternoon on Interstate-70 when an east-bound semi-truck hauling two trailers with Indiana plates did not stay in its lane, hitting a Chevy Tahoe. The Chevy then rotated in front of the semi-, going into the ditch, facing the other way. As the Tahoe went down the embankment, it rolled over numerous times, going through a Kansas Department of Transportation fence, and landing right-side-up in a field.
The big rig stayed upright, with the power unit halfway on the highway, with its two trailers in the ditch.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Tahoe, 67-year-old Jack Buehler, and a passenger, 67-year-old Jaye Ann Buehler, were both hospitalized at Gove County Medical Center in serious condition; the Buehlers were wearing their seat belts.
The driver of the semi-, a 36-year-old man from Colorado, complained of having pain after the accident.
