Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple is now under around the clock security after he told law enforcement that he has received threats.

Interim Police Chief Troy Livingston says it is standard protocol whenever an elected official is threatened. Some officers have been moved from other duties to protect the Mayor and his home.
The threats come after the Mayor came under fire last month, when police body camera video showed part of a tense interaction with an officer. In the video the Mayor threatened to file a complaint against the officer, after the Mayor was admonished for driving the wrong way into a driveway during a neighborhood cleanup event.
Officials said that they will not provide details on who, how, or why they are providing the security.
