Wichita Police investigating double shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured two Wichita teenagers.

At approximately 12:20 Wednesday morning, officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the intersection of 15th Street North and Poplar. Officers found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his right upper leg.

The two were transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They both underwent surgery and were reported in stable condition.

Detectives are investigating this case, which will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office. Police say they will not identify the suspect(s) until formal charges are filed.
