One person is dead, another has serious injuries, in an overnight crash in Wichita's Delano area.

Wichita Police say it happened around 12:20 Sunday morning in the 200 block of N. Charles Street.

When Fire and EMS arrived, they found a vehicle on fire, after it crashed into a tree and a fence. The force of the collision separated the engine from the chassis. The two occupants in the car, a 32-year-old driver and a 32-year-old front passenger, were extricated by Wichita fire crews.

The passenger was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died. The driver sustained serious injuries and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police believe alcohol and drugs factored into the crash.
