The Crown Uptown Theatre remains closed after a small fire triggered by lightning derailed the opening show Friday night.
The theatre near Douglas and Hillside had finished the show’s first act when they heard a loud pop and then shortly thereafter, the smell of smoke.
A small fire broke out in a breaker box in the basement. Theatre personnel put it out with a fire extinguisher.
The audience was evacuated and the fire department dispatched to investigate. No one was injured.
The theatre says ticket holders can get a refund or a raincheck for a future performance.
