The Wichita have arrested 30-year-old Tyler Kirkhart of Wichita on the charges of Kidnapping, Child Endangerment, Interference with parental custody, and deprivation of property stemming from an Auto Theft investigation. Monday afternoon officers were dispatched to an abduction in the one-thousand block of West 31st Street south.
Officers learned that Kirkhart stole a white 2015 Chevy Cruz from a 26-year-old female victim. The victim had her 3-year-old daughter and infant son in car seats in the back when the vehicle was stolen. The victim was attempting to air up her tires when Kirkhart offered to help. He then got into the vehicle and left the area south-bound.
A short time later officers located the vehicle abandoned in the 35-hundred block of South St. Francis. The children were located inside the vehicle and unharmed. Kirkhart was arrested a short time later.
