The Wichita Police Department canceled an Amber Alert after the abductor was captured and 2 children were found safe.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. Thursday night, officers were dispatched to a domestic violence disturbance in the 3000 block of East Douglas. Upon arrival, they contacted the reporting victim, a 25-year-old female who reports the non-custodial father, Gary Lowe III, abducting her two children, 2-year-old Gary Lowe IIII and 1-year-old Jamias Lowe, in her 2007 white Ford Edge.
The investigation revealed Gary Lowe III contacted the victim inside the SUV. The victim was assaulted, causing minor injuries. During the incident, Lowe III made suicidal and homicidal statements prior to driving off with the two children.
The KBI issued an Amber Alert at 12:45 a.m. Friday. Less than an hour later Wichita Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle, which led them to the 2100 block of South Flynn, where Lowe III was located and arrested without incident. The children were located at a relative's home, no injuries were reported.
