DETROIT (WWJ) -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 850,000 vehicles in the U.S. over an issued that could cause engines to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall includes the certain Ford Broncos, Explorers, Aviators, Navigators, Mustangs, F-150 pickups, and 2022 Expeditions.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday that a defective fuel pump in these vehicles could fail.

"That can lead to a number of problems, from rough running to an outright engine failure." said WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert, who noted that Ford has had at least six complaints about this problem.

It's not clear if the issue has caused any accidents or injuries.

At this point, Ford is still working on a remedy.

Gilbert said recall notices will go out to owners of all impacted vehicles in the coming weeks.
