If you’re keeping your open ketchup in the pantry, you may want to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror, as Kraft Heinz has settled the age-old debate on what to do once the tomato sauce is open.

“FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. Fridge!!!” the company tweeted last week, resulting in a bit of online controversy.

Oftentimes, it seems those who store their ketchup in the fridge don’t know that some keep theirs in the pantry, and vice versa.

But now, Heinz has taken down the barrier between the two groups, siding with those who refrigerate over the other.

To show that there are those who do both, the company ran a poll asking its followers what they do, to which the majority selected refrigeration.

Several people jokingly replied to the ketchup purveyor, asking whether or not their pillow was the second-best choice for storing the condiment or if it should only go in a croissant.

Heinz replied to several outlandish jokes, even making a fake croissant ketchup ad in response to the comment.

“So why is it on the shelves in supermarkets & shops then?” one user asked.

“Where do you keep your soft drinks, Dave?” Heinze responded.

In total, the poll has 13,000 votes, with 63.2% picking the fridge while 36.8% said they keep their ketchup lukewarm with it stored in the cupboard.

The hot topic of where to keep your ketchup after opening is nothing new to Heinz’s latest tweet, as the company responded to a poll ran in 2017 clarifying that it is best when kept cold.

“Because of its natural acidity, Heinz Ketchup is shelf-stable, but refrigerate after opening to maintain product quality,” the company tweeted.
