Former President Donald Trump is taking shots at his political opponents once again, this time saying that Democrats have cost him and his 2024 campaign “vast amounts of money” in legal fees.

Trump shared his thoughts in one of his latest posts on his social media platform Truth Social, saying that the Democrats are now attacking his funds so he can’t use them for political ads.

“The Lunatic Left, working closely with Crooked Joe Biden and his corrupt DOJ, is not only focusing on Election Interference but on getting the Trump Campaign to spend vast amounts of money on legal fees, thereby having less to spend on ads showing that Crooked Joe is the WORST PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY!” Trump said in his post.

The former president is currently fighting three separate indictments, and according to his recent campaign finance filings, he has spent approximately $25 million on legal fees, almost half of the $54 million in fundraising he’s brought in so far this year.

An Associated Press report from earlier this month put the bill for Trump’s legal fees closer to $40 million.

Trump is currently facing federal charges in Washington, D.C., and Florida for his alleged mishandling of classified materials and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. He is also facing a third indictment in Manhattan over an alleged hush money payment he made in 2016.

The former president could also face a fourth indictment in Georgia as Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) prepares to present her case to a grand jury next week. The investigation is also about his efforts to overturn election results in Georgia.

However, Trump’s latest indictment, concerning his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, appears more serious than the other charges.

A poll from ABC News/Ipsos found that 65% of Americans thought this month’s indictment was either somewhat serious (14%) or very serious (51%). Meanwhile, 24% of respondents thought the charges weren’t serious.

The poll also noted that 52% of Americans think Trump should have been charged with a crime in this case, while 32% thought otherwise.
