
The Wind Surge defeated the Cardinals 7-2 on Friday night as the Surge scored six runs in the sixth inning to boost them to their third straight win and a season-high seven game lead to remain in first place.

Aaron Rozek made his third start of the season on the mound for the Surge and pitched three and two thirds’ innings, allowing one run, three hits, and tallied six strikeouts before being relieved by Andrew Cabezas.
Nick Raposo broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run to give Springfield a 1-0 lead. Raposo finished three for five with two RBIs in the game.
The Surge sent eleven hitters to the plate in the sixth inning as they scored six runs behind RBI singles from Severino, Keirsey Jr., and Julien. Aaron Sabato scored on an error by Springfield catcher Aaron Antonini to give Wichita a commanding 6-1 lead.
The Cardinals cut the deficit to 6-2 in the seventh inning behind an RBI double from Raposo off Surge reliever Steven Cruz.
The Surge added an insurance run in the eighth inning as Austin Martin tallied his first hit of the game on an RBI single to right field to score Keirsey Jr. and extend Wichita’s lead to 7-2.
Notes: Jair Camargo extended his hit streak to seven games… Wichita improved to 10-6 against Springfield this season. The Wind Surge were hit by a season high four pitches. The game had a combined 19 walks.
