Californians shopping for marijuana now can use their mobile phones to verify that a retailer is legal and licensed.
Just use the scanner-app on the Q-R-code that dispensaries post in their window. That links to the store's license in the state database.
State officials and retailers hope the Q-R-codes make it easier for consumers to choose licensed dispensaries instead of illicit sellers, which don't charge state taxes.
People without a scanner-app can still go online to check a store's license.
