(KNX 1070) - KNX honored heroes across Southern California Friday in its annual Heroes luncheon.

The 49 honorees, their guests, and KNX staff streamed into the Sheraton Universal Hotel, to a stunning 360 degree view of the city from the Starview Ballroom on the 21st floor.

Just a couple of our KNX Heroes. From folks who save kids, rescue animals in need, and inspire people to follow their dreams no matter how challenged. For more stories like these go to https://t.co/3DWXBuHJ2T. #KNXHeroes pic.twitter.com/taQeRZ67c7

Kicking off the cocktail reception and luncheon was the powerful, all-female Jennifer York quartet. And hosting the event was news anchor and on-air talent, Heather Jordan.

The luncheon celebrated the work of those who raise money for much-needed causes -- a teen who sews dolls for sick kids in hospitals, a woman who saves hundreds of animals, those who inspire athletes, our fearless first responders, and a man who literally scales mountains across the globe to raise money for Parkinson's in his father's name. These are the people from our SoCal communities who make a difference every day, and KNX is proud to honor their hard work, and unparalleled commitment to being part of the change.

Teenager Ella Dabney used her experience with the Girl Scouts to make dozens of therapy dolls for pediatric patients. The hand-sewn dolls allow medical staff to explain a procedure to a young patient who may not understand what's going on.

Lynden Smith donated her hair to help kids dealing with cancer. Little did she know she'd be facing her own battle.

When 7-year-old Aramis Verano got in trouble for fighting with a classmate, he decided to write a book about bullying."It's about helping kids control their feelings at school, " says Aramis.
