Los Angeles police Thursday identified a man being sought as a suspect in a hit-and-run that left a woman badly injured.

Paulino Diego Pedro, 30, allegedly drove a white SUV that injured the 20-year-old woman about 3:20 p.m. March 22 on Jefferson Boulevard near San Pedro Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The woman suffered several fractures, and her right foot was amputated as a result of the collision, police said.

"The victim was about to enter her parked vehicle on Jefferson Boulevard just east of San Pedro Street when she was struck by Pedro's vehicle," an LAPD statement said. "Pedro drove away and abandoned his vehicle about two blocks away.

"Detectives located video footage from a nearby surveillance camera and were able to obtain a still image of Pedro's face as he ran away from the scene," police said.

Pedro has family ties in Los Angeles and Riverside counties, police said.

A reward of up to $25,000 was in effect, offered by the city of Los Angeles, for information that helps police solve the case. Tipsters were urged to contact Detective Moses Castillo by phone at (213) 833-3713, or via email at 30215@lapd.online.
