CA Auditors Report Says Prison Employee Watched 2,256 YouTube Videos at Work

(KNX 1070) -- A recently released report from the California State Auditor's office reveals numerous incidents of California state employees acting inappropriately. 

In one instance, an employee at a Central Valley prison spent literally thousands of hours watching YouTube videos. 

The administrator at Valley State Prison in Chowchilla admitted he watched videos "every day, all day long, five days per week." 

The report cites in Chapter 3: Misuse of State Resources -- the unnamed employee watched 2,256 YouTube videos in a 10-month period, as reviewed by the auditor's office. 

When the auditor's shared the information on the unnamed YouTube enthusiast, his supervisor responded by saying she agreed that, "the evidence confirmed the poor work output she witnessed from the administrator. The supervisor stated that the administrator often revealed a surprising lack of knowledge when she asked him simple questions."

Other infractions included in the report are employees misuse of company vehicles, improper promotions, mismanagement and wasteful spending on travel expenses.
