(KNX 1070) - Roadkill could become dinner under a bill just introduced by a state lawmaker from Montebello.
State Senator Bob Archuleta wants to make it legal for drivers who hit an antelope, deer, elk or wild pig, or a passerby who spots the carcass, to take it, in Senate Bill 395.
Noting that thousands of large game animals are hit by drivers in California each year, the Democrat insists his bill will keep "healthy meat" from going to waste and help "clean up our highways."
PETA says if you are going to eat meat, roadkill is the way to go.
It's more humane than store-bought meat because "perhaps the animals never knew what hit them," PETA said on its website.
