(KNX 1070) -- A special education teacher from Stockton, California was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing his own five children and others for over 20 years.
Rodney Flucas, 50, was sentenced Tuesday in several charges including transporting minors with the intent to engage in sexual activity; transporting his daughter across state lines to engage in incest (10 years), and attempted witness tampering (20 years), according to the U.S. attorney's office.
According to evidence presented at the trial, the abuse began in 2000 and included four of Flucas' children -- three daughters and one son.
Using DNA tests, court documents determined Flucas fathered 10 children by his victims, including three born to one of his daughters.
In 2014, Flucas moved his family to Klamath Falls, Oregon where he abused the friend of his 15-year-old daughter, the girl later moved in with Flucas' family and became pregnant, as did his daughter for the third time.
The family’s mantra was: “What happens in the family, stays in the family,” according to The Los Angeles Times.
In 2017, one of Flucas' daughters was involved in an intentional car accident, in the hopes that her death would spark officials to investigate her father's abuse. When taken to the hospital, she reported the abuse, according to court records.
