(KNX 1070) -- Tom Conroy, Yale University spokesperson, told the Yale Daily News that the school will revoke the admission of one student following the charges against at least 50 people, including celebrities and coaches with paying or accepting bribes to assist applicants admission into Yale and other elite universities.

Conroy says the school has begun an internal investigation but does not believe at this time there are other students involved in the admissions scandal.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the father of Yale students, allegedly told federal authorities about the fraud scheme in order to gain leniency for an unrelated securities case.

The former Yale women’s soccer coach, Rudy Meredith, was among those indicted in the admission scandal that prosecutors say was orchestrated by California businessman William “Rick” Singer.

Singer, according to court documents took a $1.2 million bribe from a parent to gain admission into Yale.

"As the indictment makes clear, the Department of Justice believes that Yale has been the victim of a crime perpetrated by its former women’s soccer coach. The university has cooperated fully in the investigation and will continue to cooperate as the case moves forward," Conroy told the Hartford Courant

Yale President Peter Salovey said in a statement he was “committed to making certain the integrity of the admissions and athletic recruitment processes is not undermined again.”
