Jessica Simpson has been very open about her past struggles while growing up in the spotlight and now her mother is disclosing the toll the intense media scrutiny has had on the pop star.

In a new interview, Tina Simpson noted how difficult it was to watch her daughter get her looks and weight judged on a constant basis.

"I have to be honest: To me the hardest thing with Jessica has been the weight. Because the way people judge her, it's unbelievable," Tina told Today correspondent Sheinelle Jones. "Body shaming is a terrible thing, and no girl should have to go through that — or guy. Period."

The body shaming had such a negative impact on the “Public Affair” singer that at one point she wanted to go into seclusion.

"Because of that, it catapulted all kinds of different emotions and different things in her life too, you know?" Tina added. "And then it made her want to be a recluse, in a lot of ways, and to hide out and not want to get out of her house."

The “Dukes of Hazzard” actress previously discussed getting body shamed in her 2020 memoir, “Open Book,” where she described being criticized for wearing “mom jeans” at a 2009 performance.

“It was awful, but the worst part was this: My very first thought was not my pain at becoming a joke or everyone laughing at me. No it was, ‘Oh no, I feel so bad that Tony [her husband] has to be with the fat girl,’” Simpson wrote in the book, per Us Weekly.

While Simpson is far from alone in facing harsh criticisms for her appearance, the mother of three recently disclosed she has no intentions of watching the documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” which centers around Spears’ contentious past with the media and paparazzi.

"It’s one of those things that if I were to watch it, reliving that for me, it’s one of those triggers,” she told Tamron Hall. “It definitely gives me anxiety. And I lived it."
