While many of the schools have been cleared, there’s still some work to be done according to the Pasadena Unified School District. 16 schools and two district offices had at least one spot with concerning levels of lead and arsenic.
The sample with the highest level of lead was taken near the tennis courts at Blair High School.
Officials say outdoor areas with unsafe soil are closed off and will stay that way until cleanup is done. The district says there's no immediate danger, and they’re working with health experts to fix the issues before the new school year.
The complete list of schools affected can be found on the Pasadena Unified School District website.
