LOS ANGELES (KNX) — L.A. police have identified and arrested a man they believe was responsible for killing a 50-year-old actor in North Hollywood on New Year’s Day.

Mosca was with two friends when the trio was approached from behind by the suspect, police alleged. The suspect allegedly stabbed Mosca after the two got into an altercation. The content of the altercation has not been disclosed.

Mosca later died at a nearby hospital from his injuries. Friends told ABC 7 they did not believe he had a preexisting relationship with the suspect.

Mosca worked as an actor, appearing in independent films and as an extra on network television shows like Dr. Ken and American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson.

Monterrosa will return to Van Nuys court on Wednesday for arraignment.
