Mayor Karen Bass is expected to make an announcement on Thursday morning regarding the rebuilding process for Pacific Palisades residents.

The announcement will take place at 9 a.m.

KNX News’ Jon Baird reported that the mayor’s office is calling it an important announcement for Palisades residents while highlighting progress made in expediting the rebuilding process so people can eventually return home.

Baird spoke with Neil Steffin, whose mother lost her home in the fire, about the recovery process.

“So far it's been a lot of hurry up and wait, but... very methodical,” he said. “It seems like it is a bit reactionary what the city is doing. I feel like they're doing a pretty good job, and I don't know how much you can possibly prepare for a disaster like this.”

Alecandra Von Tiergarten alos lost her home. She told Baird she would like to see the information she’s getting to be simplified.

“We're going through something right now where there's a ton of information that we're having to read, and it's just like pages and pages and pages of stuff that don't necessarily point me in the right direction,” she said. “I think that they could just simplify things for us.”

On Wednesday, Bass announced that residents could access the original building plans for the homes they lost in the Palisades Fire at the the L.A. One Stop-Rebuilding Center.
