
A bicycle rider was struck by two vehicles and fatally injured just after dawn Wednesday morning in Vernon.

The crash was reported at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Pacific Avenue near 45th Street, according to Vernon Police Department Lt. Gabriel Martinez.
The victim, a male whose name and age were not immediately available, was hit by a vehicle headed south on Pacific Avenue.
The driver did not stop, Martinez said.
The rider was ejected into northbound lanes and was hit by a second vehicle that also left the scene, according to the lieutenant, who said descriptions of the vehicles were not yet available as detectives were only a couple of hours into their investigation.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to Martinez, who expressed his condolences to the rider's loved ones.
The crash response and investigation closed a stretch of Pacific Boulevard between 45th Street and Vernon Avenue, according to a report from the scene.
