A man's body was discovered Friday off shore in the Hermosa Beach area, and an investigation was underway.
The body was found about 7 a.m. near 21st Street and The Strand, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Police said a passerby reported a floating body and that they pulled the body out of the water. Police added that there was also reportedly a gunshot wound to the victim’s head.
It's not clear how long the body was in the water.
Information was not immediately available on the man's identity or cause of death.
