The 15-year-old boy killed in a Sun Valley crash was going to become a father soon, according to media reports Monday.

The victim was identified by family members as Carlos Pech, according to several broadcast sources. The Medical Examiner's office has yet to confirm the victim's identity.

Pech was expecting a baby with his girlfriend next month, relatives told the broadcasters.

The man suspected of driving the 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV that struck Pech was identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as 22-year-old Joseph Delgado, a resident of North Hills.

Delgado was driving eastbound on Strathern Street when he lost control at about 11 p.m. Saturday at White Street. He struck several parked vehicles and debris from the crashes injured another pedestrian walking on the sidewalk before he ran away, Los Angeles police reported Sunday. Delgado was located, arrested and booked on a charge of murder, the LAPD reported.

The boy identified as Pech was in the roadway and was struck by debris from the parked vehicles, police said. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, authorities said.

The other pedestrian suffered moderate injuries and was expected to recover, police said.

Anyone with information on this crash was asked to call LAPD's Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8000.
