Brush fire in Tenaja Truck Trail reaches 130 acres, 25% contained

A brush fire near Lake Elsinore has grown to 130 acres Monday and is 25% contained, according to fire officials.

The Tenaja Truck Trail is 25% contained as of 6:30 Monday. It grew from 100 acres Sunday night.

The fire reported early Sunday afternoon was initially estimated at 10 acres, but had engulfed about 99 1/2 acres by 3:45 p.m, according to Cleveland National Forest officials.

El Carissa Village was under an evacuation warning, the department stated. Ortega Highway was temporarily closed in both directions, but later reopened.

According to the CNF, a reception site was established for evacuated residents and small pets at Lakeside High School at 32593 Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore. The San Jacinto Animal Shelter at 581 S. Grand Ave. was taking in larger animals.

As of 6:30 p.m., the forward rate of spread was under control and fire crews were constructing line around the fire perimeter.
