Los Angeles City Councilmember Traci Park is clarifying an announcement she made regarding a repaving project set to cause ongoing closures on the 405 Freeway.

In a newsletter, Park announced that Caltrans agreed to postpone the project until Pacific Coast Highway reopened. Caltrans, however, denied that.

Park clarified her announcement to KNX News’ Craig Fiegener.

“Back in April, Caltrans put out information letting community members know that they were going to begin their repaving process this spring,” she said. “Understandably, that caused widespread consternation amongst people around the city who rely on the 405 for commuting. So we reached out to Caltrans, sent a letter, and asked them to please defer any of that work at least until PCH has reopened.  My understanding is that now Caltrans has responded and indicated that they will plan to begin the work at the soonest after PCH is opened.”
