Police are searching for the suspect who shattered the windows of businesses and a church in Canoga Park on Monday night.
It happened on Canoga Avenue near Sherman Way around 11:45 p.m. When officers arrived, the suspect was already gone, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
KNX News’ Jon Baird reported that impacted businesses included a construction company, a heating and air conditioning shop, a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise, and an antique store. The window of a storefront church was also smashed.
An employee at one of the shops told Baird he was not surprised this happened.
“I think it was just like a random person on drugs just walking around,” he said.“You know, it's kind of common around here. There's a lot of drug addicts. A lot of homeless people.”
The general manager of the 1-800-GOT JUNK? store told KNX News’ Jon Baird said he’s glad nobody was hurt and that nothing was stolen from the store.
“A broken glass window is far better than someone getting hurt, things getting stolen at the end of the day,” he said.
Around 7 a.m., city crews arrived to clean up the broken glass on the sidewalks.
In January, at least three businesses were vandalized in the Canoga Park area.
