LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials renewed their plea to the public to help find the person who killed 14-year-old Otis Rayjon Williams in the Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles.
Otis was walking alone to a neighborhood market around 8:30 p.m. on July 3, 2020, in an alley between East 98th Street and East 99th Street, where he was fatally struck by gunfire.

“Me and my family, we’re still mourning,” said Otis’ mother Francine Brazil during a Wednesday press conference in Monterey Park. “He was a good boy and he was respectful.”
Brazil said Otis was the baby of her seven kids and pleaded with the public to come forward with any information about her son’s killer. She also questioned the motive behind her son’s murder.
“Why did you just pull up on my son and shoot him in the chest three times like that? He’s just a kid. Why would you do that?” Brazil asked. “I’m just hoping the public knows something and they come forward.”
Homicide detectives said they don’t believe Otis was involved in any gang activity and believe it was a case of mistaken identity as he had recently hit a growth spurt and stood about 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Detectives described the suspect vehicle as a newer model, 2015-2018 blue Dodge Challenger, with one black stripe on the hood between two air scoops and no front license plate. The car also had a black roof, trunk, spoiler, and gas cap.

Anyone with information about Otis’ murder is asked to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
