Disney's CEO says the theme park will reopen in late April. That's according to the CEO as reported in a Hollywood Reporter story.
It's the news a lot of people have been waiting for: Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim will reopen in late April.
Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek made the announcement this morning at the company's annual shareholders meeting.
Chapek said about 10,000 furloughed park employees would be recalled, the story reported.
Disneyland, like other theme parks in the state, shut down last year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Part of Disneyland is being used as a mass vaccination site.
Just last week, California announced that theme parks and outdoor ballparks could reopen in the state beginning April 1. State Health Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said amusement parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios will be able to finally reopen as of April 1st as long as the county they're in, rises to the red tier or better.
Meanwhile, later on this month, A Touch of Disney will open outdoors at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim.
