A federal congressional oversight investigation focused on January’s Palisades Fire is underway.
“This hearing is about the Palisades Fire, but it also goes beyond the Palisades,” Spencer Pratt, who lost his home in the fire, told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener. “This is about accountability, preparation, and dignity in disaster recovery wherever and whenever it might occur.”
Two U.S. Senators – Florida’s Rick Scott and Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson – are in the Palisades investigating possible failures from state and local leaders.
“The most tragic part, you can, you can rebuild homes, you can't rebuild a life,” Scott said. “When I was governor of Florida, we had four major hurricanes, and the whole goal was to keep everybody alive.”

They’re also investigating the possibility that China is trying to benefit from the Palisades Fire disaster by making offers to purchase land where people have decided not to rebuild.
