The Anaheim City Council is expected to vote on final approval for Disneyland’s $2 billion expansion project Tuesday.

In April, council members unanimously voted to give preliminary approval to the Disneyland Forward project, which would build up the resort’s attractions and parking structures, and add shopping, dining, and entertainment where the Toy Story parking area is located.

Project supporters said that the financial benefits for the city outweigh any potential problems. Opponents are worried about the traffic and noise the project could create.

Disney estimated that the project would create about 9,000 jobs. This expansion would also require the company to invest millions of dollars in affordable housing and street improvements.

If approved, the expansion would take about a decade to complete.
