A rapidly spreading brush fire scorched roughly 140 acres of terrain in Acton Thursday and threatened some structures as crews worked to contain the flames.

The Hawk Fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. in the 35900 block of North Trenmar Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Some structures were being threatened as the flames spread through medium brush and fire commanders issued a third alarm, summoning additional air and ground resources to the scene. One neighborhood was placed under an evacuation order, and others were give evacuation warnings.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and there no reports of any injuries.
