
ORANGE, Calif. (KNX) — Firefighters battled a massive fire at a foam manufacturing plant in Orange overnight. The blaze was first reported shortly before 12:30 a.m. at Foamex International in the 2000 block of Batavia Street. Flames were reportedly seen from several miles away.
Foamex manufactures large foam pieces. The business operates for 24 hours a day and employees were on the premises when the fire started.
Orange Fire Department crews fought flames and smoke coming from the one-story commercial building well into the early hours of Wednesday morning. Fire departments from Fullerton, Anaheim, and Orange County were also on the scene to assist.
At least one storage area in the building and two cars were destroyed in the fire, according to the Orange Fire Department.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. No injuries were reported. Crews have stayed on the scene to monitor hot spots.
