LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Family and friends of Los Angeles Police Officer Fernando Arroyos will come together Wednesday for his funeral at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was fatally shot on Jan. 10, during an attempted robbery while off-duty in the 8700 block of Beach Street in South L.A. His funeral service will not be open to the public, at the family's request.

The late officer's funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Hall of Liberty Mosaic Deck at the memorial park on 6300 Forest Lawn Drive.
Last week, fellow colleagues and friends of Arroyos came together to hold a fundraiser for Arroyos' family — as they are responsible for funeral and burial costs since he was off-duty when the attack happened.
More than 1,000 people attended, offering kind words about the late officer, who served three years with LAPD.
Arroyos is survived by his mother, father, grandfather, stepfather and girlfriend.
On Jan. 27, a federal grand jury returned an indictment against three
alleged gang members and one associate for the crime, according to City News Service. Three men and the 18-year-old girlfriend of one defendant were charged with violating a federal racketeering statute.
In addition, Luis Alfredo De La Rosa Rios, 29, Ernesto Cisneros, 22, Jesse Contreras, 34 and Haylee Grisham, 18, were charged with violent crime in aid of racketeering to increase and maintain position within a Latino gang based in South L.A., CNS added.
Rios and Contreras are set to be arraigned on Feb. 3, while Grisham will be arraigned on Feb. 7 and Cisneros on Feb. 10. All in Los Angeles federal court.
