George Tyndall, the former University of Southern California gynecologist accused of sexually abusing 16 patients, has died.

Andrew Flier, one of Tyndall’s lawyers told KNX News’ Margaret Carrero that Tyndall was found dead in his home by a friend.

"She went over [to Tyndall's home]… and unfortunately, she found her good friend who appeared to be deceased," he said.

His lawyers believe the 76-year-old died iin his sleep from natural causes.

Lucy Chi, one of Tyndall's accusers, said she was disappointed.

“From day one, looking at how frail and old Tyndall was, I was really afraid we’d never get our day in court, and then it happened,” she said.

Tyndall was charged with 18 felony counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person. He pleaded not guilty on August 25.
