GLENDALE, Calif. (KNX) — Glendale police have asked for the public’s help in locating a person accused of punching a woman in a parking structure in an “unprovoked assault.”

The incident was all caught on surveillance video.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday on the lower level of a parking garage located in the 200 block of North Glendale Avenue.

The suspect was standing next to several bags when the victim walked by. He “quickly walked up to the victim and struck her in the side of the head with a right hand,” authorities said.

The victim stopped briefly, apparently shocked by the encounter, but continued walking through the parking lot. It was unclear if the two exchanged any words.

Authorities have not determined the sex of the assailant, but he or she was described as being between 20 and 30 years old, standing between five feet and four inches and five feet and seven inches tall, with a medium build. He or she wore plaid shorts over black leggings, a black hoodie with a white graphic, and a blue and white baseball cap worn backwards.

Police said the suspect may be a transient.

Anyone with information on the incident has been asked to call the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4911. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
